Agent Installation


Installing in Windows

The PatchQuest Agent Windows edition is available as an executable file (.exe) in the PatchQuest Server installation. Once the PatchQuest Server is installed, copy the PatchQuest agent executable from the location : <Server_Install_Dir>/AdventNet/SecureCentral/PatchQuest/agent/windows to the target machine. Execute the file and follow the instructions as they appear on screen.

 

Please ensure that you have 'administrator' privileges before you proceed with the installation.

 

PatchQuest 4.3 is powered with an agent which can function in either HTTPS mode or SSL/TCP mode. You can choose your desired mode of installation based on the scenario in which your systems are going to be managed.

 

Refer to the following sections of the help documentation to know more about installing and working with the agents in each of these modes.

Note : After the installation is complete, the agent starts as a Windows service automatically. To simply install the agent but start it up at a a later point, un-check  the "Yes, I want to start the agent service" option. Refer to the ReadMe file in the agent installation for more information.

 

Installing on Linux

The PatchQuest Agent Linux version is available as a binary file (.bin) in the PatchQuest Server installation. Once the PatchQuest Server is installed, copy the PatchQuest agent executable from the location : <Server_Install_Dir>/AdventNet/SecureCentral/PatchQuest/agent/unix to the target machine. Note that java is required for the Linux agent to be installed successfully. Make sure that Java (JDK 1.5) is available in your system and the path is set. If not, install Java before proceeding.

 

Change to superuser mode and then execute the file from the shell prompt as below :

 

./<file_name>.bin.

 

Follow the instructions that come up on the screen.

 

 

Note : After the installation is complete, the agent starts as a daemon automatically. To simply install the agent but start it up at a a later point, say no to the "Start the agent now" option. Refer to the ReadMe file in the agent installation for more information.

 

Downloading from the web-client and installing

You can connect to the PatchQuest server using a browser from the machine you want the agent to be installed. Select the 'Download Agent' (Windows or Linux link) option from the 'Home' tab. Once the download is complete, proceed with the installation depending on the OS as mentioned above.
